Global Organisations to Take Part in MASCRADE 2017

In the Movement Against Smuggling and Counterfeit Trade (MASCRADE) which is to be held from October 12, many global organisations like UNODC, INTERPOL and World Customs Organisation will be participating.

MASCRADE is going to be the fourth international conference by FICCI’s Committee Against Smuggling and Counterfeiting Destroying the Economy (CASCADE) to combat smuggling and drugs.

The theme for this year is “Protect Your Brand Globally: Fight Counterfeiting, Smuggling and Piracy.”

FICCI CASCADE confirmed in a statement, “Senior Officers from leading international institutions like INTERPOL, World Customs Organisation (WCO), United Nations Office for Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Organisation for Economic Corporation and Development (OECD), US Homeland Security and US Patents and Trademarks Office will be representing at the event.”

A detailed report titled “Illicit trade: Fuelling Terror Financing and Organised Crime” will be released during the two-day conference said the organisers.

The statement further said that “This report is analysing growth figures, case studies, impacts and initiatives at the national and international level to understand the various dimensions of illicit trade with a focus upon counterfeiting, piracy and smuggling for consumer products and its linkage in financing terrorism and organised crime.”

The report illustrates a framework for reducing the illicit trade and channelising the illegal funds to the criminal organisations.
The best performing officers from the police and paramilitary forces who have performed exceptionally in combating, apprehending and administrating preventive mechanisms about illicit trading activities will also be felicitated during the FICCI CASCADE event.
